Facial Assessment and Balancing

Overview

Facial balancing focuses on enhancing facial symmetry and harmonising the features of the face by addressing volume loss, asymmetry and disproportion. This includes a thorough assessment of the patient’s facial structure rather than focusing on isolated areas, creating a natural result.

Taking into account the golden ratio (a mathematical proportion associated with aesthetic beauty particularly in facial features), facial balancing is heavily influenced by the specific number of 1.618. The idea is that certain distances and proportions on the face are more pleasing to the eye when they follow this golden ratio. For example, length of the face vs width of the face, distance between the eyes vs width of the eyes, and length of the lips vs distance between the nose and the chin. If these measurements are close to 1:1.618 ratio, the face appears more balanced.

The Treatment

Facial balancing often involves subtle adjustments to facial features using non-invasive methods. The areas often treated are cheeks, jawline and chin, lips, nose, forehead and temples. Common treatments include volumising treatments to add volume, shape and structure. Treatments may also include wrinkle reducing treatments used to reduce muscle activity, or skin tightening treatments to enhance contours and reduce sagging. Facial assessment and balancing is customised to the client as every face is unique and allows for tailored treatment plans.

Reminder!

The goal isn’t to change how you look, but to enhance balance and harmony. True aesthetic beauty comes from proportion, not perfection. A small tweak in one area (like the chin or temples) can dramatically elevate the overall look even more than treating a single ‘problem area’ in isolation.
